HOW DOES GEOTHERMAL WORK?

While Ohio’s outdoor temperatures fluctuate with the seasons, the underground temperatures do not. Six feet below the Earth’s surface, the temperature remains a constant 58 degrees. Geothermal Systems, take advantage of the earth’s consistent temperatures in order to provide you with “free energy” for your home or office.

Each geothermal system typically consists of an indoor unit and an outdoor underground loop system. In winter, fluid circulates through the system’s loops, absorbing stored heat and transporting it inside. The systems indoor unit takes this heat, compresses it and distributes it throughout your home. In the summer months, the process runs in reverse. The indoor unit pulls heat from the structure, and the loops carry it outdoors, depositing it into the earth’s surface.
